About Us

The village of Granisle is located on the shores of beautiful Babine Lake - the heart of the land of the Nedut'en. Granisle is located 50 km off of Highway 16, north of Topley. Turning at the Hwy 118 junction, travelers will enjoy their drive through beautiful countryside and scenery. Moose and bear are just a few of the animals that frequent these roadways. This region is where the real attractions west of Prince George can be seen.

Granisle is a recreational community of 250 people offering many services including a public library, post office, medical centre, and elementary/secondary school. Clubs include the Granisle Seniors Organization, Boat Club, Lions Club, Dart Club, Curling Club and Rod and Gun Club. The nearby village of Tachet at the mouth of the Fulton River - home to 200 or so permanent residents of Lake Babine Nation - has hosted the Carrier people of this area for millennia and boasts a gas station, convenience store and satellite LBN offices.

Babine Lake offers prime fishing and boating and provides a perfect setting for all manner of water sports. The surrounding forested area provides plenty of opportunity for hiking, hunting, camping and any number of outdoor adventures. The advent of winter does not bring the community to a standstill; a variety of winter activities from cross country skiing to ice fishing and snowmobiling keep residents and visitors busy.

One of the most spectacular natural wonders close to Granisle is the Fulton River Spawning Channel where sockeye salmon return annually by the thousands. Along with the salmon, you may be fortunate enough to get a glimpse of a bald eagle or grizzly bear feeding at the river.

Whatever the season, the beauty and recreational opportunities of Granisle and the surrounding countryside keep visitors returning year after year.
